From the fourth floor you can accede, through a window, to the whole roof of Georges Lefèvre. It is enough difficult that usually nobody does it... but Zdarma was here to change habits.

On such a roof, there are a lot of things to do. For example, you can watch the romantic sunset over the polluted Lille city.

While I was trying to show the magic spectacle to Filippos, he began to think very hard, like he had inspiration.

By night it was nice too. But once we went there in the evening, somebody closed the window and we had to stay outside for more than an hour. You can easily imagine that the person who found us making s.o.s. signs behind the window at 1 a.m. was somehow surprised.

In the spring we went on the roof more often and it was necessary to extend my interphone to be able to phone directly from the roof. We used 60 meters of cable that went from the roof to the 4th, than through the whole 3rd floor to be plugged in my room.

Once I was like that, tanning on the roof with my interphone in case somebody would call me, and suddenly the phone began to move from itself. In fact it was Mrs Lelièvre (the caretaker) that was pulling the cable. I had to explain her the importance of having a phone on the roof while tanning.

We also used to play tavli (backgammon). With its black color, the "terace" was really hot although in Lille the sun is not so strong and so we had to get some cold beers each time we went up.

At the end we had so many things to bring with us that we began to leave the half of our furniture upstairs. It was safe because only pigeons used to go to the same place and they don't stole.
